Online access, whether that is the NHS App or something like Patients Know Best, usually reaches back only as far as the day your practice switched it on. Everything before that is hidden inside a system without patient access: hospital letters, specialist notes, referrals, results, decades of it. Technically yours, but practically invisible.

So most people do what feels normal and let it slide. Something always feels more urgent than requesting your health records. And even if you did request it, what would land in your inbox is exhausting to parse: hundreds of scanned pages, decades of illegible handwriting, no clear order and no clear connections. Nobody has time to decode that.
